MaxM Directory is headquartered in and operates from the state of Maine. Under Maine law, 15 M.R.S. § 711–§ 712, most conversations may be recorded, with certain exceptions, with the consent of at least one participating party provided the recording device remains in the responsible participating party's possession and control at all times. Maine law does not require the responsible party to notify other participants that the conversation is being recorded.
The MaxM.Directory community is designed to support constructive discussion and information sharing related to housing conditions and property history.
The goal is to complement structured property records with helpful context and discussion.
MaxM.Directory is designed to organize housing information into structured, chronological records.
The platform does not assign ratings or make judgments about properties. Instead, it presents data in a way that allows users to interpret patterns and history over time.
MaxM.Directory is a free, community-powered housing transparency platform built to give tenants, landlords, and the public a permanent, factual record of every rental property — including its history, conditions, ownership, and documentation.
Unlike traditional listing sites that only show what a landlord chooses to advertise today, MaxM builds a living timeline for each property that grows with every reported event, uploaded document, and verified interaction.
Every Property Tells a Story. MaxM Directory Helps You See It.
MaxM Directory was created to bring transparency, structure, and accountability to rental housing—by making it easier to document what actually happens during a tenancy.
Tucked away in Philadelphia’s Old City, Elfreth’s Alley is widely recognized as the oldest continuously inhabited residential street in the United States. At just a few hundred feet long, this narrow cobblestone lane offers something rare:
a clear, living example of how much history a single address can hold.
Homes on Elfreth’s Alley date back to the early 1700s. Over more than three centuries, they have been occupied, modified, repaired, and preserved—each change adding another layer to their story.
Finding a place to live is one of the most important decisions people make. Yet renters often know very little about a property before signing a lease. Listings typically show attractive photos, rental prices, and basic amenities, but they rarely reveal the full history of a building.
